Ko-Ko, a boy shipwrecked on a rocky island, is saved by a sea monster. Initially fearful, Ko-Ko realizes the monster is benevolent and provides him with food and supplies from a sunken ship. The monster reveals he was transformed by a witch, and someone must wish for him to be human again. After years together, Ko-Ko and a girl, also rescued by the monster, befriend him. When the girl wishes he were a man, the monster transforms into a sea-god. He creates a beautiful enchanted island with a castle for the children, promising them a life of happiness and plenty.
